Just Let Me Be a Wildflower, Lord!

“Learn from the way the wildflowers grow.” Mathew 6:28 NAB
Wildflowers are plants that grow without the help of humans. Well, yes, some people do plant wildflowers seeds and tend to the blooms. But the vast number of wildflowers grow in prairies and forests. Their seeds are planted by natural forces like the wind that scatter the seeds that grow into new flowers, or insects and animals that help pollinate the plants. The life of wildflowers originates with the hand of God, the Great Gardener.
Wildflowers are content to exist where they have been planted. They wait upon the Creator for their daily needs, the blessings of sunshine and water, but they accept whatever comes their way, be it sun, rain, snow, storms, or wind. Their face is always turned toward the sun with expectation. They have no cares or burdens. God’s heaven is their canopy.
There are 32,000 different kinds of wildflowers that grow in North America alone! A vast diversity for the Divine Creator to attend. A beautiful garden for His loving hands to care for. And the purpose of this grand showcase? A wildflower’s purpose is to display beauty born of the Lord’s love and care. To emit the sweet fragrance of their gratitude for the blessings of sunshine and water. And in due season, when the Creator sends forth His wind, the wildflower’s purpose is to yield life-giving seeds into their environment.
I think wildflower life is the life for me!
Lord, make me a happy wildflower in Your great garden, gratefully dependent on You, trusting in Your divine care. May I display the beauty of Your holiness and grace, and share the good life You have given me. Amen.
