How We Overcome Evil - Michael Edwards Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Rom 12:17a NAS
Evil has raised its head high in the world today. If meditated upon and continually observed in the news and online, it makes the enemy appear more powerful than God. This wrong focus overcomes our thoughts and minds, leading to the release of the enemy's greatest weapons of fear, doubt, worry, despair, and hopelessness.
God tells us the things we see today will happen, and He calls us to walk by faith and not sight. He knows that walking by sight in this world can make evil seem overpowering, even though victory is still God's in the end. Today is our great opportunity to walk in His peace, power, and joy by faith, doing things God's way instead of man's way.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Rom 12:21 NAS
Loving others, doing good, and leaving revenge to God is how God tells us to overcome evil and prevent evil from overwhelming us. Not only in the world, but in the spiritual battle for our minds, where evil tries to master our thoughts, stealing our faith and hope. While we might not be located in the heat of the battle, we can defeat evil right where we live. Look around, whom can you love, help, share Christ with, encourage, call, bless, and demonstrate good towards?
It is critical to understand; God never tells us to focus our sight on the enemy or his works. For our own good, He tells us just the opposite, to walk by faith with our eyes fixed on Jesus alone, the Author, and Finisher of our faith. We are to meditate on God's ironclad promises as we love and do good even when the storm rages around us.
So, take your eyes off the enemy's works; he loses. Do good no matter how small, no matter how loud the enemy screams and tries to bring fear and distraction. Be a part of the ripple effect of love and life created by billions of Christians around the world doing things God's way instead of man's.
"But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. Luke 6:27 NAS
