Surrendering Our Time - Tricia Draper We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. (Hebrews 2:1 NIV)
Often, we say we are surrendering our lives to God. While this is a great thing, most of us don’t understand everything included. It’s a big goal, and we have to take little steps to get there. It’s like climbing a staircase; we have to take each step to get to the top.
One area we can surrender our lives is by giving time to God. We can do this in several ways. Putting our attention on God is a way of giving Him our time. Just as with any relationship, we need to pay attention to God. He appreciates it when we give our full attention.
Another way to give time is by having alone time and focusing on Him. We should have a time when we’re alone with God and give Him our full focus. Whether it is five minutes or two hours, we can show Him our devotion with complete focus. When we focus, we praise and magnify Him, and see our lives from a different perspective.
Reading the Bible and expecting to learn something is very important. Some people just read but never understand the meaning. When we read our Bibles, we should be expecting to learn something from our time in the Word. God is always there waiting for us to ask Him questions if we need help understanding. He wants us to learn as much as we can.
When we take time to get to know God better by giving Him our complete focus and attention, He is always excited and ready to help.
