His Loving Touch – Jennifer Woodley ‘When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Mark 5:27-28 (NIV).
After twelve long years of riding high with hopefulness and then being plunged down into disappointment, this woman just knew Jesus could do for her what doctors could not. She had not even seen Jesus at work, she had only heard about him. Her belief was based solely on hearsay. Yet blessed are those who hear the good news about Jesus and respond!
Thomas couldn’t believe that Jesus had risen until he saw the Savior in the flesh. Jesus said to Thomas as he reached out his hand and touched His side, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29). Where do we find ourselves today? Are we like the woman who was desperate to touch Jesus because she believed what she’d heard about him? Or do we like Thomas, need evidence before we respond?
Putting faith in Jesus isn’t about waiting until we see His miracles. It’s about believing He is able to do great works because of who He says He is – Lord of all. Lord of our struggles, sickness, unemployment, marital difficulties and more. One woman reached out because she believed and her life was never the same again. There were crowds pressing in on Jesus, the Living Word, but only those who reach out in faith will receive His promises.
‘Jesus, help me to believe in you and your words so that my life may be changed forever. Amen.’
