Helping Hands - Tricia Draper Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2, NIV)
While it can be frustrating when a coworker seems to be lacking on the job and upsetting to do their work along with ours, we may not know what is going on in their lives. There are times when people need a helping hand. Instead of getting mad or upset, we can go to them and ask what we can do to help. We are to carry each other’s burdens. That means we need to get past our feelings and look for ways to help the ones around us. Whatever we can do to help others will be a blessing, not only for them, but for us too.
The Bible says we reap what we sow. When we sow blessings, we will reap blessings. When we sow love, we will reap love. That is a special promise from God. Whatever we give away will come back to us in time. The opposite is true, also. If we sow discord, we will reap upset. If we sow anger, we will reap that in abundance.
When we feel ourselves getting angry or upset with someone, we need to pause and look at life from their perspective. When we offer a helping hand instead, we not only bless others but learn to carry each other’s burdens as well. The best way to carry other’s burdens is to do so with joy. When we joyfully give, joy will abound in us.
