Graced Weapons - Karen Pourbabaee
“Through Whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand…” Romans 5:2 NAB
We stand by grace. To stand describes a position of strength, further meaning to stay firm, tolerate, resist, endure, and prevail. We stand boldly as faithful soldiers of God, but without His grace, we will fall. The enemy seeks our defeat, but it is God’s grace that is a weapon for the battle.
Grace was at our beginnings as the unmerited favor of God to fallen man. We are saved by grace through faith as a gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8) That was the initial battle in our lifelong journey with Christ. Grace is also defined as “the sustaining influence enabling a believer to persevere in Christian life.” (Zondervan Bible Dictionary) In lovingkindness and mercy, God strategically places graced weapons along our path. We must be alert and pick them up! What does God’s Word say about grace?
You are promised grace in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) God grants grace at every moment of your need.
Your prerequisite to grace is humility. (James 4:6) Be humble. Surrender to Him. When you are weak, He is strong.
You receive good hope by grace. (2 Thess. 2:16) Every time you choose His grace, you have good hope for the road ahead.
God’s grace is sufficient for you. (2 Cor. 12:9) That never changes.
You will grow by grace. (2 Peter 3:18) His grace was pre-figured into the plan of maturing you into Christlikeness.
You can stand by grace. (Romans 5:2) Victory is yours if you choose to live by God’s grace.
Paul foresaw all our victories here: “And the God of peace will soon crush satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.” (Romans 16:20) He knew grace was needed in the battle. Pick it up and stand by grace today.
