“Jesus said. . . ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’” (John 11:25 ESV)
The statistics are probable that everyone reading this has either had cancer or knows a friend or family member who has this dreaded disease. Its scourge brings loss of health and life to millions. While new treatments appear in the news almost daily providing hope, the best news would be for a cure to end all forms of it.
The good news is—a cure for one form of cancer does exist, available to all who suffer from it. The cancer? Sin. It came into the world when the first man and woman chose to disobey God and yield to temptation. The sin “cancer” meant physical and spiritual death for all mankind. But God, in his sovereign mercy and grace, provided a cure. Through the physical death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, he offers eternal life for those who believe! “He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 NLT)
While physical cancer still abounds and we search and pray for a cure, we who have victory over the cancer of sin and death through Christ offer this good news. Our physical bodies may succumb to the disease of cancer, but they will be resurrected.
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” (Rom. 8:11 NIV)
Thank you, God, for the eternal cure you’ve given us in Jesus!
