God WILL NOT Erase Your Name from the Book of Life, Christian - Michael Edwards Many present Revelations 3:5 as a warning, in a negative light. You better watch out because your name might be erased. But this verse is some of the best news you will read in the Bible, once you know the truth of how we overcome.
'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I WILL NOT erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Rev 3:5 NAS (emphasis mine)
The above verse is powerful and in the Greek it is even more powerful. The word "not" is also translated never in some Bible translations. In the original Greek, the word used is actually a double negative "οὐ μὴ"and means "never ever" erase his name from the book of life. It literally says "no not" in the Greek here.
Jesus overcame the evil one and the world for us.
"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NAS
How do we overcome the evil one and the world? By the blood of the Lamb and the word of Our Testimony. This is also how we were born again.
"And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. Rev 12:11 NAS
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith, Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:4-5 NAS
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world….
