God Isn’t Finished With Us Yet Toni M. Babcock
“They will still bear fruit in old age, healthy and green, to declare: “The LORD is just; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him,” (Psalm 92:14-15 CSB).
Living can be a dangerous occupation, and as the world becomes more and more threatening, older people tend to withdraw and slow down. Approaching old age can lend itself to becoming disengaged—disconnected from the frantic pace of technology and the current “cancel culture” with its political correctness and hyper-sensitivity.
When old age creeps upon us as believers, we can feel tempted to become mere observers hunkered down in the top tier of an arena we feel more and more foreign in. We may be tempted to ask “Why should we bother trying to witness for Christ when there is so much unbelief and negativity out there—so much hostility and disdain toward the gospel?” Or, “My own family hasn’t even listened to me, why should I believe anyone else will?” (Of course, this is the devil’s tactic to hinder the proclamation of the gospel. We don’t need to know the impact we’re having. We just need to believe God is having an impact.)
God didn’t design us to become benchwarmers in the back seat of life, cushioning ourselves with the gospel while the rest of the world goes up in flames. He designed us to keep doing His will which is to share the love of Jesus in a world gone mad.
No matter how old you are God isn’t finished with you yet. What good word or deed can you speak or accomplish in His name today?
