Giving God Authority Over My Concerns Robert Schaetzle Because of the pandemic, golden agers, those 80 or older, are shut-ins. Greater caution must be observed because of our lower resistance to infections. And my wife, even more so, because of her fight against acute leukemia. When I drive her to the hospital for her chemo treatments, we're challenged to trust fully in God's preeminence and shield of protection.
Besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:16-18 RS
In these days of testing, it is not unusual for our faith to be challenged to the point of being overcome by emotional uncertainty. Anxiety can set in that keeps us from walking in His peace and joy. And Satan may even bring thoughts upon us that are outright lies, in an attempt to bring fear and get us to deny the hope that has been given to us. But I know this for sure; our Lord is faithful. His grace is sufficient, especially when we are struggling.
It is in these trying times when I especially love praying the scriptures. I know that when I do, I'm taking hold of The Sword of the Spirit. I also put on the helmet of salvation that displays my confidence in God's promises for my life. When I intentionally focus on His promises, my being shifts from fear to praising God with thankfulness, regardless of the circumstances. As I worship Him intently, He takes full control over things I cannot control. I walk in His peace
Father, thank you for your protection, promises, and grace. I do not understand all that is happening, and I'm overwhelmed at times. Thank you for being my peace, wisdom, strength, and way of escape in things I cannot control.
