Focusing Our Energy – Tricia Draper
To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. (Col 1:29 NIV)
When we have Jesus inside us, we have all His energy. That means we can do greater things than He did on this earth. Sometimes we forget we have that energy and lose focus on how we need to use it.
Recently I found myself worn out and running on empty. It was like I was running a race on an empty tank of gas. Things were happening all around me and I struggled to keep up. Then I realized, I was focusing my energy on the things of this world and not on the things of God. It was then that God showed me I could do things the hard way or His way.
Often, we get distracted by things going on around us. We may focus on things that are not bad, such as kids, work, or church. These are good things, but when we try to do them in our strength, we can miss out on God’s plans for our lives.
God made us prosper in every area of our lives, and we can only do that when we focus our energy on Him. He should be the one we look to when things are happening around us. When we are dealing with our everyday lives, we need to put our focus on Him and He will lead and guide us to where we need to be.
We need to let God be the gas in our tank. He is the only one who can truly fill us up. We can focus our energy on Him every day and He will see that we succeed.
