Does Anyone Love Me? - Ken Ebright
"The greatest love a person can show is to die for his friends.” John 15:13 (NCV)
We all want to be accepted and loved, but sometimes that is not the case. Maybe you can relate.
In grade school, I was often picked on, leaving me feeling rejected, unloved and even hated. Hoping I had left all of this pain behind in grade school, I discovered I was wrong. I remember one job I held where I experienced the same type of rejection from co-workers as I did in school.
In my mid-fifties now, my history with love from family members has not been much different. When I was fourteen years old, my mom committed suicide. Then my dad re-married, got divorced, and left the state. I do not have any family in my life I can rely on, and I have never been able to find a woman to loves me and wants to be my wife. All of these, and more, have shaken my world and left me feeling rejected and unloved.
Sadly, in this fallen world, selfishness and other sins often get in the way of love. Sin, rejection and conflict, can turn our love cold and dull, but not Jesus' love.
Before Jesus died for our sins, He was betrayed, whipped, and nailed to the cross. He knows personally what it is like to be rejected, unloved, and hated. Nevertheless, out of undying love for us, Jesus still chose to take on the cross. He did all of this to save us, so that we can spend eternity with him by simply believing the gospel is true and accepting Him into our hearts.
When we get to heaven, sin won't be there to get in the way of love, and rejection will be a thing of the past. Please accept His love and ask him into your heart today.
