Daily Workout - Jane H. Young
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6 NIV)
When someone decides to get serious and trains their bodies to get in shape at the gym, they wouldn’t think of going just one day a week. If they’re really going to see a change in how they feel and look, it takes a commitment to spend lots of time at the gym.
In the same way, it’s hard to get in shape spiritually if we only work out on Sunday. To have a close walk with God and to let Him make a difference in our lives, it’s going to take time each day with Him and in meditating on His Word. Still, some find it easier to go to the gym regularly than to spend needed time with God. They’ll purposely get up early to work out before their day gets started. They won’t miss that routine for any reason. But they’ll go all week without one minute with God unless they need something. Let’s keep our priorities straight and in order. Let’s make it a habit to put God first, not just as an after-thought, but as a privilege.
Invite God and His Word into your life daily, not just for a snack on Sunday morning. The most important time of the day is the time we spend with our Heavenly Father. When you wake up, instead of grabbing your phone or iPad to see if anyone has texted or emailed you, grab your Bible and see what God has to say to you first.
“In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.” (Psalm 5:3 NASB)
Prayer: Lord I desire to start my day off with you. Help me not to get sidetracked with anything that would take priority over our time together.
