Crowd vs. Creator – Anne Adams
It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 2 Samuel 22:33 (NIV)
For more than 150 years the Texas Rangers have courageously confronted and overcome their criminal enemies, and of course, there are many stories about them. One popular account relates how many years ago a West Texas community was plagued with a gang of thugs and so contacted the Rangers.
Their appeal was desperate: "There are too many of us to handle –send a company of Rangers!”
So there arrived on the next train – one man. The town committee was aghast. “This is a vicious mob,” they told the new arrival. “We asked for a company of Rangers – not just one!”
The Ranger shrugged. "Oh, I think I can handle this alone. After all, you’ve only got one mob.”
We’re probably not confronted by bad guys like that but sometimes our problems can seem just as overwhelming and challenging. And because we may have more than one problem then as we seek a human solution, then we think that it certainly will take more than a problem solver.
Wrong!
No, we just need one – God himself of course – and who better to do it? After all, not only does he know the perfect solutions, he also provides all the provision, guidance and loving support we’ll need.
Got a problem? Maybe more than one? Then rely on the Lord – he handles them all!
