Could it Be? – Harriett Ford “Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.” (Luke 24: 31 NIV)
After the resurrection of Jesus, we have accounts in which He appeared but was not recognized. Mary thought Jesus was the gardener at the tomb until He spoke her name.
Jesus walked beside two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and they also did not recognize Him. Could it be that He is walking beside us at times and we don’t even know it?
The disciples saw Jesus walking toward them on water and thought He was a ghost.
Another time, seven disciples were out fishing, and the Lord spoke to them from shore, telling them to cast the net on the other side. Only then, John recognized the man as Jesus.
Could it be that we do not always recognize our Lord? Certainly, we don’t expect Him to walk toward us on water.
When Paul experienced a blinding vision while on the road to Damascus, he did not realize who his “Lord” actually was.
Could it be, that like Paul, we virtually have to become blind to the natural world to see in the Spirit?
Father, I thank You that even when I do not feel Your presence, Your word says You are with me always. Help me walk by faith and not by sight. Help me believe and see beyond my five natural senses into the Spiritual like Elisha, especially when the natural contradicts Your word. I know You came to destroy the works of the devil and I ask You to destroy any of his works in my family. Praise God; help me to see in the Spirit, to see Jesus. Amen.
