Always Craving, Never Satisfied? – H L Ford
Nibble, nibble. Do you find yourself eating something more, but you’re never really satisfied? Always craving something, but don’t know what it is?
Perhaps this is a revelation. When the disciples urged Jesus to eat something, He answered, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” (John 4:31-32 NIV). They asked one another if someone had brought Him food. Our Lord explained, “My food… is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” (John 4:34 NIV).
As with Jesus, perhaps the nourishment our souls need most — doing the will of our Father is the one thing that will leave us completely satisfied. I know this — in His presence is fullness of joy. There is no appetite, desire, need, or anything that is not completely satisfied when His Spirit envelopes us in an unseen cloud of glory. You’re filled with unspeakable joy; complete wholeness. It is an incredible peace—a ‘holy of holies’ place where you want nothing more than to remain forever and worship Him.
How do you get into that place? Seek Him, and do His will. Consider seeking Him with fasting. Food is of no concern when you are doing the will of the Father.
Father, I thank You that Your Word is Your will, and You have given me the power to do it. I want to be in Your presence, Lord and finish the work You have given me to do. Amen.
