Cellulite and Anxiety, Both Depend on Intake Harriett Ford Any person who is concerned about losing body fat knows that it cannot be prayed away. Fat is due to intake. The same with anxious thoughts.
If we allow our intake of anxiety, spewed out 24-seven by media sources, to have more importance than our intake of what God has to say, we will forfeit our peace and joy. We short-circuit our faith by an imbalance of what we deem important.
David pours out his praises and his anxiety in many Psalms to God. Understandably, he suffers anxiety from the politics of the day. King Saul is looking to kill him. He is troubled by enemies who “speak against God, wickedly.” He is grieved by those who rise up against God’s righteous ways and asks God to step in and deal with the wicked.
But, then, after realizing his anxiety is not due to his circumstances, but the way he is looking at his situation, he turns to his own thoughts.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, And see if there be any wicked way in me.” (Psalm 139: 23-24, AKJV).
Here we have a pattern for dealing with anxious thoughts. We cannot do anything about the wicked, except when we ask God to deal with any wicked way in us. When we give more importance to God rather than the politics of the day, our intake becomes balanced.
Father, I have no authority over wickedness in others. Overcoming wickedness in myself is where change begins. You knew me before I was born. The enemy tried to conform me to this world. I ask You to transform me that I might share with others the joy, peace, and righteousness in the Holy Spirit - (Rom. 14: 17), instead of the anxiety and destruction the voices of this world spread.
