| | | | | | Searching for a Shoulder to Cry On Stephen Thomas
"Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me." (Psalms 27:7, KJV)
You ever had one of those days? You know, a day when the temperature was too warm for a coat, but to cool for a jacket. A day where it rained all day, but just enough to make the ground slick. One of days where it rained just enough for the windshield wipers to drag across the windshield because it was raining hard enough to need them, but not hard enough to use them.
Those events, those challenges, all seem to happen on the same day. You know in your heart that it can't rain forever, but your eyes do not lie. And all you see in back of you are dark clouds. All you see above you is dark clouds.
In Psalms 27, the writer struggled with storms. His storms were in the form of people. He asked for relief and deliverance from those who meant him no good. His storm was not rain; it was those who disliked him for whatever reason.
God never promised us sunshine all the time. He never told us that He would prevent the storm. He tells us that He will protect us from our storms. He promises to be there, and to protect us from our enemies. He never said that the clouds would turn blue right away, only that He will stand and hold a spiritual umbrella over our heads. More than that, He promises to never leave nor forsake us.
God, thank you for the good times and the bad times. Most of all, thank you for being with us always. In Jesus' name.
