After wheeling my moaning husband into his hospital room after his hip replacement surgery, the nurse said, "I don't know why, but you heal faster when you get up and walk after surgery." Although some might think it cruel to subject him to more pain, I couldn't help but grin. The only thing he had been looking forward to was lying still, having others serve him, and resting comfortably during his stay.
The medical field operates on a faith principle for healing, which God had first ordained in His Word. When facing health and life challenges, it is indeed a loving gesture and hospitable practice on God's part for us to 'walk' out our faith towards the desired results because faith without works is dead (James 2:20). We can't afford to sit idle, crave pity, or expect others to do all of the praying on our behalf. We must be personally accountable to get up and exercise bold faith in God's power in order for those unfavorable mountains to move (Matthew 17:20). My husband didn't just hear the nurse's instruction, but was an obedient, willing, and active participant in order to help the healing process begin.
PRAYER: Father, thank you for creating gifted doctors and nurses with skillful hands to assist in healing. Jesus, the Great Physician, prescribes meditation on Scripture for wholeness, which is sharper than any scalpel, penetrating and healing both body and soul (Luke 4:23; Hebrews 4:12).
