"Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed," (Hebrews 12:12-13 KJV).
Have you ever encountered a Christian who tried to do the right thing and ended up doing the wrong thing? Are they having trouble getting back on track? Perhaps that Christian is you. Perhaps you made a poor judgment call, or said or did something that offended another Christian. As a consequence, you find yourself rolling through life like a loose pinball, dodging a wagging tongue here and a shaking head there. Why? Because your story has been told too many times by too many people, and has morphed into a story that is not altogether true. But since you initiated the flap in the first place, the consequences sit unwelcomed on your doorstep. Now what do you do?
Here's my advice. Having confessed your sin, and made amends to the person or persons you have offended, quit beating up on yourself. Accept the fact you are a sinner who is accepted by Christ through faith, even if you're not feeling particularly accepted by others who may be holding a judgment against you.
Perhaps you have been offended by a Christian who has "crossed the line". Five of the sweetest words a penitent Christian can ever hear is "I was wrong about you." Let those five words be a part of your vocabulary. Have you ever spoken them to a broken one who needs to hear? Speak them sincerely. Be the believing difference to a Christian "turned out of the way", and watch their mistrust melt away. God will bless you for it.
