When the will of man and the power of God collide, a kind of spiritual fission takes place. Never mind the bondage of the will. We can't claim impotence once we hear the voice of the living God in the power of the Holy Spirit. Even as bond slaves to sin and iniquity, the Lord God enables and expects us to do what he requires. The question is, do we believe it? Do we believe Jesus has the power to trump the bondage of sin and set us free?
When Jesus called into the tomb "Lazarus, come forth!" he was speaking to a dead man. Miraculously, Lazarus heard the call of God and came out of the tomb ALIVE, bound in grave clothes. He didn't hesitate, pondering his spiritual condition. He didn't passively wait for Jesus to walk in and physicallyyank him off a cold stone slab. He didn't say to himself, I can't come out of the tomb - look at me, I'm dead! No, when Jesus cried "Lazarus, come forth!" believing in His Father in heaven, Lazarus walked out of the tomb alive, believing in the Son of God. So does Jesus for every soul who hears His voice and obeys.
He says, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." Then he asks, "Believest thou this?" (John 11:25-26 KJV).
Believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed," (John 8:36 KJV).
Lord, we would believe your word and turn away from our sins. Help our unbelief.
