pray without ceasing 1 Thess 5:17
Think of something you can do over and over again without stopping. For me, it would be all about sports. Let the right game come at the right time, and I may not even pause for food. Some people I know can shop and shop and never stop. Most of the time they don't purchase anything, but the walk is somewhat therapeutic. They love it.
What if someone told you today that you would need to pray without ceasing? Do you have enough to talk to God about for a day or even an hour? Will you be needing some suggestions or ideas when your prayer closest gets low?
The Apostle Paul faced a church at Thessalonica that was hungry and growing. He wanted them to focus on God, not on the deeds of man. In chapter 5, he gave them a list of things to do that would sustain and help grow the Church.
One thing on his list was to pray without ceasing. God does not want you to pray while sleeping or to close your eyes and pray while driving. What the Apostle Paul wants and wanted for them and for us is to invite God into our prayers and to pray about all things. When you're running late for work, you should pray that God decreases traffic. If you are not happy at home, then ask God to bless you and your family. If you are tired, pray to God for strength.
He will hear you; He's listening now.
God, thank you for hearing our prayers, answering our prayers, and encouraging us to pray. We pray that more and more families pray together and pray about everything and receive the blessings of your answered prayers. In Jesus' name. AMEN
