| | | | | | What If You Dropped Your Laptop? Ken Ebright “Careless words stab like a sword, but wise words bring healing.” (Proverbs 12:18 NCV)
If I took my laptop to the roof and dropped it, chances are when my computer hit the ground, it would be in a million pieces. This is what our words can do to other people.
I have first-hand knowledge of how other people’s words can be hurtful. In school, the kids knew I had learning disabilities and that I had a hard time getting an education, so they called me a dummy Their words have haunted me all of my life. I have always felt like I am not smart enough. Even now, there are times when I feel I'm not smart enough to write devotions or to go back to school.
We have to be careful about teasing people. People need to think about how their comments might affect someone. I will never forget the words of my seventh-grade teacher; when people were making fun of someone, he would say, “Is it kind; is it true; is it necessary?”
Are your words kind, true and necessary? It can be difficult to forget words that are meant to be cruel. When you speak to people, please remember that it could possibly bother someone for the rest of his or her life. Like the broken computer, your words could shatter someone's self-esteem into a million pieces. As believers, we need to encourage, not discourage. Make sure your words are not careless ones that stab like a sword, but are wise words that heal.

‘I literally was transformed and totally healed in an instant upon trusting in Jesus as my lord and savior. The love, joy, light, and peace I feel is way more than words or thoughts can express.
