We have all experienced the disappointment of biting into under ripe fruit. To have waited just another day or two for the pear, banana or grape to ripen would have been more satisfying. Sweet, yellow bananas, juicy, soft, golden pears or sugary bursts of tiny green grapes are best waiting for, until they have matured to perfection.
God the Ever Patient recognizes the wisdom of waiting until the fullness of time. Scripture reminds us how He moved when the time was right, and there was no disappointment in it. Galatians 4:4 (NIV) says, "But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons."
Are you waiting for the fullness of time? For a concern or issue to run its course before an answer is received? Rest with God, the Master of Waiting, the Author of Patience. We are made strong through Him in our impatience. Know that God will give us the peace and fortitude to wait until the matter comes to perfect completion.
Can we give our Lord the benefit of believing that His hand is leading us? Can we accept the tension of feeling in suspense and incomplete until He completes the slow work in our situation? If we force the ripening process, the result will be spoilt. May we have the wisdom to allow God to complete His perfect work in all our circumstances, waiting patiently for the fullness of time.
