The Serenading God - Jennifer Woodley
'No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.' John 6:44 (NIV)
The butcher bird sings as the sun awakens each morning. He sings melodiously outside my bedroom window. He serenades to me. And in my sleepy state I smile. His is an invitation to arise, to greet God with thanks, with prayer. Faithfully there every morning, he spurs me to welcome the day and welcome God's presence with a grateful heart. The butcher bird is a gentle reminder awakening me to the prospect of God's wondrous presence in all things.
God serenades us. He sings a love song into our hearts. What will He draw our attention to as a reminder of His devoted love and care for us today? The sleepy smile of a child, warm sheets, showers and warm hugs. The bubbling of brewing coffee, melted buttery toast, and lively conversations, crisp and cool mornings, the first frost and scented summer rains. Every moment, every action, every encounter is God's invitation to turn our attention to Him, to acknowledge His presence in all things and to give thanks.
Even in the painful, difficult activities or events of the day, we will find a reminder of His presence, His care, His continual loving attention to us. These moments still offer an invitation to give thanks. All of life is charged with the grandeur and provision of God.
Today slow down, take time, make room to look, to ponder, to wonder. What is God opening our eyes to? Where is His presence resounding? Where can we give thanks? Encounter the serenading God today.

FaithWriters are Fulfilling The Great Commission Together!
As we help you become the writer God has called you to be, you help us spread the gospel in over 230 countries online. Here is a quote from a reader who accepted Jesus on FaithWriters. His life will never be the same because one writer “put pen to paper” and shared it.
‘I literally was transformed and totally healed in an instant upon trusting in Jesus as my lord and savior. The love, joy, light, and peace I feel is way more than words or thoughts can express. This new life of being a true Christian, who is saved, Spirit-filled, born-again, fully and truly converted by the living holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, is going to carry my being further than anyone could ever imagine. It will be the most blessed, rewarding, and holy life in the Lord, which I have embarked upon now.’” Roger P. |
