In His Time - by Susan Ferguson
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. (Lamentations 3:25 NKJV)
Let's be honest, we don't like to wait. In our world today, time seems to be in short supply with no time to wait. Our human nature tends to operate in the instant gratification of now and not later. However, God's ways are unlike ours, and we receive His promises through faith and patience. (Hebrews 6:12)
All Christians face times when their prayers are delayed, and they enter into a season of waiting. Our Heavenly Father hears our prayers and answers them in His time. He is good to those who wait and is faithful in keeping His promises. He does all things well, and His timing is perfect. Waiting on God never wastes our time, exercises our faith and teaches us to trust in Him. How we wait is an important factor. We can fret and become unhappy, or we can place our trust in Jesus and enjoy life while we wait. Drawing close to Christ through prayer, praise, and thanksgiving keeps our hearts filled with joy as we wait.
Let the wise words of Charles H. Spurgeon encourage you today:
"If the Lord Jehovah makes us wait, let us do so with our whole hearts; for blessed are all they that wait for Him. He is worth waiting for. The waiting itself is beneficial to us: it tries faith, exercises patience, trains submission, and endears the blessing when it comes. The Lord's people have always been a waiting people."
