I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD-Psalms 40:1-3
As a sufferer of depression for most of my life, it took years before I realized God could and would bring me out of it. Years before I fully accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, many days I would find myself reading the book of Psalms for comfort from my debilitating disease, led there, no doubt, by God Himself.
Many times God drew me up from the pit of destruction, healing my mind and heart and giving me the courage and strength to carry on until one day He led me to the right doctor to truly help me. Until that day, however, He carried me through each and every storm of my life.
For all who find themselves in need of love and comfort and it is seemingly nowhere to be found, seek God. Trust Him, and He will reach down deep inside of you and give you strength and courage. He will give you a new song and lead you to those still, cool waters.
Just put your trust in Him.
Dear Father, I pray that those who find themselves in a miry bog of depression, will seek You first and find themselves with their feet upon Your rock. Lead them, according to Thy will. Amen.
