The Happy Path of Wisdom By Karen Pourbabaee
“How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.” Proverbs 3:13 NAS
A blessed life is within our reach as we find wisdom. Not the wisdom offered by the world, but the wisdom God has reserved for His children. It entails a search, a treasure hunt of sorts that begins with seeking God Himself. “For the Lord gives wisdom. From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)
The blessed life is presented to us in Proverbs 3:13-24. It is the happy path of wisdom. Through the years, as we acquire wisdom regarding each aspect of our lives, God places our feet back on His path. The first blessing of wisdom found in verse 16 is a long life, accompanied by riches and honor. The way of wisdom is a pleasant way and a path of peace as verse 17 tells us. Happiness comes to those who hold onto wisdom per verse 18. As we keep godly wisdom in our hearts, we “will walk in our way securely and [our] foot will not stumble.” (verse 23) And finally, our sleep will be sweet. (verse 24) Joy will be ours no matter what the circumstances might be.
Therefore, God Himself teaches us: “”Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of My mouth.” (Proverbs 4:5) Listen for that gentle voice of the Shepherd. His words will fill your heart with wisdom and keep your feet firmly planted on His path.
Dear Lord…teach me to number my days so at the end of my happy path I may offer you a heart of wisdom. Amen.
