Living Faith - by Karen Pourbabaee “…faith without works is dead.” James 2:26 NAS
Without faith it is impossible to please God. As a righteous man or woman we’re admonished to live by our faith. (Habakkuk 2:4) In Jude 20 we’re instructed to build ourselves up on our most holy faith. Living and building reflect action. To grow in our Christian life requires movement, sometimes a push by the Holy Spirit. Works are the movement God has ordained for us in Ephesians 2:10. There is a time for quiet seeking and giving birth to faith by His Word, and then there is a time for walking in the good works of God.
Works display our faith: “I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:18. We cannot believe and remain still. A dormant faith, without works, is useless. (James 2:20) We must learn to live what we believe. We display our faith by our works. First we show our trust in the Lord for what we’ve come to believe by corresponding action. Secondly, those around us see a living faith. A source of hope.
Works fuel our faith: “…faith without works is dead.” James 2:26. Works provide the energy for our faith. When we’re actively engaged, we become more enthusiastic toward the object of our faith. It extends our endurance level. Gives us energy to reach the finish line. We become coworkers with the Lord. We’re not alone. Works perfect our faith: “…faith was working with his works…as a result of the works, faith was perfected.” James 2:22.
Display your faith. Fuel your faith. Perfect your faith. Please God by an active living faith.
