Mary Magdalene readily recognized Jesus in the flesh. However, on the resurrection morning, “She knew not that it was Jesus” (John 20:14). Her physical perception couldn’t penetrate the spiritual realm of Christ’s resurrected body. Mary needed an instant inner awakening.
She was reconnected to her inner spiritual being when Christ called her by name. Then, she was able to tune into the spiritual frequency of the heavenly kingdom’s broadcast station, hear, and identify Jesus Christ as she always had done.
It took a while from the time I heard God’s call to when my spirit came alive. God took me through the refiner’s furnace for four decades. I’ve had three mountaintop experiences, which brought me face to face with the resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ. I have seen the other side, and I’m certain of the unmistakable distinct voice of God’s call the same way Mary Magdalene was awakened on the resurrection morning by the voice of Christ.
“But ye shall receive power after the Holy Spirit is come upon you…” (Acts 1:8a). Christ is standing right beside you just as He stood next to Mary and the disciples. Tune into the same spiritual frequencies of an inner instant awakening through prayer, and you’ll hear Him calling your name today.
