OUR ALL-KNOWING GOD PROTECTS US! By Linzy Bruno "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life; You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me." (Psalm 138:7 ESV)
When I turned eighteen, I fell in love with a gorgeous guy with beautiful red hair. I left home, moving in with him in his tiny, roach-infested apartment. He didn't work steadily, and therefore, he moved us around a high-crime area every time the rent was due. This went on for three months and would have continued had my mother not sent him a letter pleading with him to send me home. (I had no idea until years later.) Seemingly to me, just out of no where, Eddie explained that he wouldn't be able to provide for me. I was heartbroken and even suicidal. Six years later, he was killed in a horrific car wreck.
Many years later, my mother confessed what she had done, and I finally understood her God-ordained actions, which had angered me greatly, actually protected me from becoming a young widow and God only knows what else.
Looking back on those days when I was "Mrs. Red," as our friends called me, the strangest thing was that whole time I could feel God's protection all around me. He went with me into every bar, alleyway, and other dangerous places I roamed. I was perfectly safe.
Prayer for Parents:
Lord, my children think they know more than they actually do and won't listen to my advice any more. Please help me to say everything according to Your will; I know the wrong words will push them farther away. Don't let them stay lost; guide and protect them through this confusing time. In Jesus' name. Amen.
