I sometimes feel sad because I don't feel at home in the Illinois area where I currently live. Recently, I visited Minnesota, where I grew up, and drove past my childhood home. I was amazed that I didn't even recognize the house. The current owner had changed the color and added on to the house. As I gazed at my old home, I suddenly remembered all of the depressing things that had happened there. My mom, a recovering alcoholic, committed suicide. A few weeks after my grandmother died, I found out I would have to repeat 5th grade. There were other things that had changed as well; the church I'd attended as a child was different. There was a new addition to my high school. This was not same town I had left many years ago. It didn't feel like home anymore.
This is a perplexing situation when you don't feel you have a home. I need to be reminded that neither the town in Minnesota nor the Illinois one is my home. My true home is now in Heaven because I asked Jesus into my heart. The great thing about my new home is there will not be any suicides. I won't have to worry about being graded. No alcohol will be allowed, and I will live in complete happiness because there will be no sin. I'll be with the Savior who loved me so much He sacrificed himself on the cross.
