The Israelites (God's people) and the Egyptians (the world) both went through the same thing. The Israelites went through the Red Sea unharmed; however, the Egyptians were destroyed. What overwhelmed the Egyptians was a victory for God's People!
We can go through the exact same thing that an unbeliever goes through but we can experience different results when we are walking by faith. God can use a storm to strengthen the believer while that same storm can overpower the unbeliever.
The key to the Israelites' safety was their Leader. They were being led by God through the sea; they were not on their own. An unbeliever will go through the tough times on their own. They are leading themselves and disaster is inevitable. We must realize the power that is found in following God.
How do we follow? We follow through the Word. The Israelites had to listen to God during this time; we must do the same. We listen by keeping our focus on the Word and taking the Word in. When we are in a tough spot there is no better place to be than in the Word. No matter what state we are in, the Word is the best place for us to be! The Word is our place of refuge. If we want to successfully endure the trials that destroy unbelievers, we must keep ourselves in the Word.
We don't need to fear what the world fears. We don't have to dread the storms. We can know that our God is enough; He will bring us through whatever comes our way victoriously!
