Have you ever been in a man-made structure where you felt you needed to take your shoes off because of the grandness or the immaculate place inducing awe and reverence? Visiting Washington DC and reading the Constitution of the U.S. was a wow moment for my husband and me. There is so much rich history in those handwritten pages. But this is nothing compared to how we should stand in awe of the work of the Holy Spirit in us. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. How many times I have ignored His working.
"Ye are not your own," the scripture reads. I remember studying the Old Testament when the High Priest went into the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle. He must cleanse himself and confess his sins before entering the sacred place God prepared. It was very serious. Sometimes I forget that my body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and it also is just as serious. I must remember to not grieve Him.
Cleanse my soul, Lord Jesus. Teach me again, show me again, and tell me again how to take care of this Temple of yours, Father. I ask in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
