Seeing the Potential - Karen White
As I painted the back door of the "move in ready" house, I thought about my gift/curse of walking into a room and visualizing the room's potential. My thoughts then turned to God, and I realized that He too sees potential, not in décor but people.
The world may look at someone who is good, moral, and successful and deem them as a productive citizen. God, however, may look at those same people and see not only the person they are but the person they are capable of being in Him. Moses is a prime example in Exodus 4: 10-13 NIV "Moses said to the Lord, "Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue." The Lord said to him, "Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."
Moses, the one who lead the Israelites out of Egypt, the one to whom God gave the Ten Commandments was not living up to his potential. We are no different; one of our failings as humans is that we are not always able to see our potential. But God not only sees but provides the power to enable us to reach that potential. Could it be that if we were to pray asking Him to reveal and work through us that we would reach our full potential?
Dear Lord, I ask that you work through me allowing me to see and reach the potential for all you have for me. In Jesus's name, Amen.
