Depths of the Sea
Anna Darlene Edmondson
“You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” (Micah 7:19 NKJV).
In 1800, the French Navy built a human-powered Nautilus (submarine) designed by Robert Fulton. Years later, a different submarine underwent routine testing and remained submerged 24 hours. After this experiment, the ship’s crew reached shore unharmed. An inquisitive crowd waited nearby. An onlooker posed a question, “How did the violent storm affect your experiment?” Looking bewildered, the commander replied, “Sir, we didn’t feel the slightest tremor!” Turned out, the submarine powered beneath the ocean’s surface and reached the deepest area known as ‘the cushion of the sea’. Although the body of salt water may be whipped into huge waves, storms or torrential winds, the liquid watery movements below remain unstirred.
Like the lowest part of oceans, God’s peace lies securely within our human hearts and no external difficulty or disturbance can penetrate. Anyone entering the Lord’s presence and accepts Him as Savior, is able to partake of this undisturbed quietness. Psalm 46 comes to mind, ‘though the earth be removed, though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling, we will not fear. God is our refuge, strength and very present help in time of trouble. He’s in our midst and we shall not be moved. Therefore, be still and know that He is God.’
Corrie ten Boom (holocaust survivor) said, ‘God has cast our sins into the ocean with a sign saying ‘No Fishing Allowed’.
Be encouraged today child of God---our transgressions will not float to the surface. Christ died for our sins and His resurrection proclaims…’It is finished!’
