Adopted by Love – by Karen White “And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water.” Exodus 2:10
Moses’ mother hid him in a basket on the edge of the water for his protection. God knew that if someone found the baby he would be killed. Therefore, He sent the pharaoh’s daughter to find the baby and ensure his protection.
Not only did the princess find the baby but she must have loved him at first sight. She loved him enough to allow him to be taken care of by a Hebrew woman till he was older. She loved him enough to risk her father’s anger and she loved him enough to raise him as her son. The princess had become a mother. Not biologically, but a mother never the less. She was an adopted mother, one who loves, protects, and takes care of a child born of another mother. Each of us has been adopted; not legally bound to parents who are not our biological parents, but by God. The Bible reveals that we are the adopted sons and daughters of Him.
Because He has chosen to adopt us, we have all the rights of an adopted child. We are loved and protected by Him, we can never be disinherited, and one day we will live with Him forever. Adoption is a good thing not only here on Earth but in Heaven. Dear Lord, thank You for loving me enough to adopt me as Your very own child. I look forward to the day that I can live in Your house with you, forever. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
