The Two of Me Stephanie White
Did you ever feel like two people in one body? You are not alone!
As Christians, we must understand that we have two natures - our Spiritual nature and our flesh. Each nature wants to dominate, but only one can.
Review: 5 Stars - Loaded with scripture, this book explains why the two natures of man (flesh and spirit) are always at war and why man's need to accomplish rather than be empowered by the Word is a mistake, and is great. Hearing Impaired – by Alisha Ritchie “Listen and hear my voice; pay attention to what I say.” (Isaiah 28:23 NIV)
For as long as I can remember, my mom has always had a hearing impairment. It was so debilitating that she got a hearing aid many years ago. While the aid is helpful, it also has its downfalls. For instance, when Mom is in a large crowd with people talking, she struggles. The abundantly loud noise is overwhelming. The hearing aid cannot distinguish between sounds and just makes EVERYTHING louder. This frustrates Mom, and she elects to turn her aid off in situations like this. Then she basks in the calmness of peace and quiet.
There are times in my life when I wish I could turn off the noise in the background. All the voices of the world are a distraction to me, keeping me from completely being in tune to listening to God. The key verse from Isaiah inspires me, “Listen and hear my voice; pay attention to what I say.” The short verse provides a powerful reminder to constantly seek to hear God’s voice in my boisterous world. God specifically tells us to listen and hear in this verse. While both words are verbs, they also imply that we not only perceive God’s voice, but take it into consideration, concentrate on it, take notice while acting on it. Be encouraged today as God wants you to hear His voice. He is constantly communicating and desires to be in continuous fellowship with you. Pray for guidance on ways to tune out the bombarding chatter of society and focus on the voice of the only One who truly matters.
Alisha writes from North Carolina. She enjoys spending spare time with her husband of almost 20 years and two children. Contact |
