The Chaplain – by Ken Ebright “Give your worries to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will never let good people down.” (Psalm 55:22 NCV)
When the new owner took over the property, he told me the rent increase would not be crazy. A short time later, my new landlord raised my rent by $200.00 more a month. There was absolutely no way I could afford that.
The next Sunday morning before church, feeling perplexed about my situation, I read Psalm 55:22. When I returned to my seat after receiving communion, a Coast Guard chaplain placed his hands on top of mine. It felt like the hand of God was touching me. I believe the Lord was telling me that I was going to be okay.
As it turned out, a few months later, I found an apartment for only $50.00 more per month. After I moved, I was able to leave my car at home and take the bus and train to work. That saved me even more money at the gas pump.
What appeared to be a crisis turned into God’s provision. Like the verse says, He will take care of me. I just need to trust in Jesus every time a calamity happens.
