Love Never Fails – by Karen White “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. “ 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV
One hears the word “love” used all the time; people love pets, food, songs, and family members. The objects of one’s affection are endless. But what is love?
Corinthians describes love as long- suffering, meaning that if you love someone you are patient and kind with them, you are not jealous of what they have or who they are, you aren’t boastful or arrogant nor are you rude to them. You don’t always put your desires above theirs, provoke them to anger, nor do you wish and are happy when bad things happen to them. Instead, you help the ones you love through the bad times and endure all things with them. There is a lot of talk about love, but to demonstrate the love described in Corinthians is not an easy task on a daily basis, not even with those closest to us, like our spouses and children. Our bodies become tired; feelings get hurt, we become distracted, we lose our focus on God, and our love wavers.
The good news is that as long as God’s love resides within us, He gives us the ability to love others and Godly love NEVER fails.
Dear Lord, thank You for the ones in my life that I love. May I always remember to love them as You love me. In Jesus’s name, amen.
