Dry Places – H L Ford
“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14 ESV
Desert places. No water. No food. What creatures live there? Scorpions, snakes, jackals, predators? Demons hate dry places, according to Matt. 12:45. The desert represents places of testing. The Hebrews were tested in the desert 40 years. Jesus endured a season of temptation in the desert during 40 days of fasting. Jesus, the source of living water, was hungry, but I truly believe He never thirsted until He hung on the cross, separated from the Father for the first time.
All of us go through dry places at times. We can trust the Father to never leave us or forsake us. He provided manna and water from the rock for the thirsty Hebrews. That supernatural fountain never dried up for 40 years. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies, the Bread of heaven and living water which nourish our spirits even in dry places.
Heavenly Father, in my walk, I see so many needy people. I need living water, a fountain that never dries up and flows from my inmost being out to refresh others today who are in a dry place. I find refreshment at that well and none other. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for renewing me with new mercy daily in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
