Divided Heart – Jane H. Young
When you know who you are, you can serve Christ everywhere, but if you’re unclear about who you really are, you will struggle to serve Christ anywhere.
Let’s look at Peter: “But Peter said to Him, "Even though all may fall away, yet I will not” (Mark 14:29 NASB). Peter didn’t know his own heart. Hours after proclaiming his loyalty, Peter denied he had anything to do with Jesus; “The servant-girl saw him, and began once more to say to the bystanders, "This is one of them!" But again, he denied it. And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean too." But he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this man you are talking about!" Immediately a rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had made the remark to him, "Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he began to weep,” (Mark 14:69-72 NASB).
When you join the devil’s team, you won’t be comfortable when it’s your turn to bat for the Lord's team. At some point, you have to make up your mind and decide, ‘if you’re going to be a Christian, be one with your whole heart!’
How have you responded when asked direct questions about your walk with Jesus? Your answer says much about your belief in God and your character. Remember, reputation is what others think of you, but character is what God knows is true of you.
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you," (Deuteronomy 31:6 NASB).
Prayer: Lord, search my heart, show me how to be strong no matter what comes my way. Help me to always boldly acknowledge you no matter what the circumstances.
