Diligence – Jane H. Young
We must guard our hearts with diligence and realize everything we do flows from the heart. Diligence is an intentional action we need to apply to ourselves every day, making sure not only to guard our hearts; but to not be passive or accepting of everything and anything that wants to enter.
If we’re not diligent to guard against the things of this world, such as evil thoughts, lustful desires, and abundance of temptations pushed at us daily with tremendous force, then trust me when I say our enemy Satan is patiently standing by, and ready to take us on a hell-bound path.
“Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23 NASB
Throughout the Bible, we’re encouraged and even commanded to be diligent. Without a diligent pursuit of righteousness and obedience, we will experience symptoms of ‘heart failure’. We should earnestly endeavor to use the gifts and talents God has given to us.
We need to work like this might be our last day. We never know when the Lord will return to take us home. Therefore, we need to be diligently seeking to share the good news of the gospel with as many people as we can.
It’s time to try again. Do what God has called you to do. Don’t be lazy. Surrender to God’s Way of doing things. Stop making excuses, and start listening to what God has to say concerning every area of your life.
“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” James 1:22 NASB
Let His Word lead your life. Let His Word guide your footsteps.
Prayer: Lord, help me to hear and recognize your voice each day. Show me how to distinguish between the false voices clamoring for my attention and your voice. I choose to move forward in what You have prepared for me to do. Amen
