| | | | | Pure In Heart - Gloria DeanIn searching for purity of heart, where do we look? Biblical purity is described by Paul when he spoke to the Corinthians about their failure. Like Eve they had been deceived, and they committed spiritual adultery, and had impure hearts. “I am jealous for you with a Godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ”. {2 Corinthians 11:2-3}. So, to develop a pure heart what must we do? We must be committed followers of Christ and live lives that please God by the power of the Holy Spirit and The Word. As a Christian, it means that we put God first in every thought, word, and action. Of course, sinful worldly thoughts will try and enter our hearts and minds...It's a daily war! Primarily, the Bible defines pure in heart as not allowing our hearts and minds to be divided (double minded) between God and this world. The key daily action is staying in God’s Word, acknowledging our sins, repenting when we sin, and asking for His forgiveness; He will guide us to a purity of heart which will be seen by our actions. The ideologies that we dwell on or focus on, must be pleasing to God. Additionally, we cannot be friends with the world. Jesus loved the world but He did not follow the world’s rules. He brought God’s Kingdom to earth and as we know the world’s values contradict His Word.“ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Mt 5:8). In conclusion, religious rules do not save us or purify our hearts; no!! Only a laser focus on our Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and The Word do. Gloria is of Carribean origin. The steps to share your faith without fear – no confrontation. Pray and then get them alone.
Ask these five questions to help discover their personal spiritual condition.
Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
To you, who is Jesus?
Do you think there is a heaven and a hell?
If you died right now, where would you go?
If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
Listen to their answers in a calm and open way. You are asking their permission to share Christ with the last question. If they say no, you can drop it – no confrontation. You have still done the work of Christ and offered the truth.
Here are a series of five Bible verses to ask the lost person to read aloud if you have their permission. Let them read them and remain silent. After each verse they read, ask them what it says to them. If they misunderstand, ask them to read it again until they admit the truth in the verse.

if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.… Romans 10:9-10 BSB
Then ask them a series of five questions that summarizes the truth of the verses and lead the lost person to the point of decision.
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender yourself to Christ?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?
Lead them in the Sinner's Prayer if they are ready to make a decision. Stay in touch and get them discipled or connect them with a local fellowship or small group for future growth.
