I have noticed every time I go out of town I go through adversity. On a regular basis I travel to Minnesota from Illinois. One time I attended a wedding using a rented car, only to come back to find someone had smashed the front windshield! Another time I had issues with a bad tire. On another trip, I ended up buying a plane ticket at the last minute. Even though I arrived in Minnesota okay, the airline had a problem and most of their flights were canceled for days. The good thing was I was able to rent a car and drive home, dropping off the rental car at the St Louis Airport instead of Minneapolis, for only thirty-eight dollars more. The cost could have been much higher.

Satan knows I’ve had some difficulties in life. I grew up in a broken home. My mom was an alcoholic who committed suicide when I was fourteen. He is a thief and I’m convinced he does not want me to enjoy my life. He just wants to steal, kill and destroy as the Bible tells us. In times of adversity, I sometimes think about Job in the Old Testament; he had to go through a lot more adversity than me and he refused to deny God as the enemy wanted him to.

 
The thing we need to remember is this: we can’t let Satan, or our still fallen flesh take control. When the enemy attacks, we need to keep on going forward — we can’t stop. Satan wants to distract us, to get us to stop dead in our tracks. Just keep on trucking and trust that the Lord will help you because he will. We just need to walk by faith and not by sight.
