A Right-On-Time Father By Antje Hill
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You. ” Psalm 139:17-18
The little girl called out with excitement, “Come, Daddy! Hurry! See the baby ducks in the water! Come look!”
The dad sat on the bench close to the water’s edge, cell phone in hand, laughing and talking. He didn’t move. His little girl called again, “Please, Daddy, come see! Hurry!”
How glad I am that I have God’s undivided attention. And so do you, if you have invited Him into your life. We don’t have to wait until He’s not busy. How often I have whispered a spur-of-the-moment prayer, knowing I don’t have to pick a number and wait in line.
Sometimes we forget our Heavenly Father never leaves us alone. When we practice His presence, we began to realize God really is involved in life with us. An old hymn says, “He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own.”
Fortunately, when my walk took me back by the dad and child, he was busy taking pictures of his daughter. She was giggling, posing and delighting in her Dad’s attention. Perhaps we Christians should chuckle and laugh more, since we know we have our “Father’s” undivided attention!
