Under Whose Wings by Genia Gilbert “The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.” Ruth 2:12 Ruth’s love for her mother-in-law, Naomi, and her willingness to follow her to a strange country is in itself inspirational. Boaz, however, saw something even deeper, which drew him to this amazing young woman. Apparently, Naomi’s faith had penetrated into the recesses of Ruth’s mind and heart. Not only had she embraced Naomi’s God, but she had gone a step farther. She had learned to trust in His protective care. When she had declared that Naomi’s God would be her God (Ruth 1:16), Ruth had entered into a realization of His presence with her. It is essential for us to have those in our lives who both tell and show us the greatness of God. God’s goal is always to reveal Himself to us personally. Anything less is to stop short, causing us to miss the joy of “trusting under His wings.” Father, cause me to be aware of Your sovereign care. Quicken me to trust Your hand in my life.
