GIVE GIFTS FROM YOUR GARDEN
By Karen Pourbabaee

On a recent pleasant summer morning, I stepped out onto the patio to greet the morning sun and tend to my small herb and vegetable garden. I harvested basil, mint, and chives from the earthen clay pots on the patio before heading to the garden near the back fence for luscious red tomatoes and vibrant green peppers. Perhaps there would be some extra to share with a neighbor or friend…gifts from my garden.

As I headed back to the house, ever so quietly, the Lord reminded me of the garden He gave me long ago…well actually, an orchard…filled with the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22-23:

“…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self control…”

Spiritual fruits are the gifts of God’s Holy Spirit to His children. When given I imagine them, spiritually speaking, as just tiny flower buds or miniscule baby fruits hanging in the fruit trees. Our heavenly Father then gives us the responsibility of tending to the garden and growing beautiful fruits so that both ourselves and others may be nourished emotionally and spiritually. This is one way God touches the hearts of the world…through the fruits of your garden!

Tend the gift of your garden lovingly and you will reap a bountiful harvest to touch your world for the Lord!
