Amidst peoples who did not seek Him, walked in their own ways, and followed their own thoughts, God still called them, making a way to be sought and found. He proclaimed an invitation to behold Him—to look, see, recognize, understand, and know Him. Even today, He relentlessly tries to get our attention. He summons us to see Him, to discover Him in the present moment. Without awareness, we will miss Him in that moment, one we can never capture again.
Americans spend approximately 41% of their waking time looking at screens, the average American indulging about 7 hours daily in social media, streaming music, podcasts, and phone time. No doubt, we are a distracted generation. With all that input, how can we hear our Lord? How can we nourish all the relationships God has gifted us with? Questions we should all ponder anew.
The Lord has prepared our moments of communion, but we must “be there.” What have we missed by not “being there?” What have we failed to hear that the Father wanted to impart to our spirits? What vision did we let drift by unnoticed? We must turn once again. We must “be there.”
Will You come again, Lord? Will You bring back those words of life? Will You forgive me and grace me once again with Your loving presence? Renew in my heart the peace of Your nearness, the joy of Your divine love. Draw me to the present moment, Lord, where You are, where I long to be now and forevermore. Amen.
God’s answer: “I will never forsake you or abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5 NAB) So great is His faithfulness!
