Because I Woke Up This Morning Robert Schaetzle
Recently I was listening to a well-known pastor who shared in his message; “God loves us because we woke up this morning.” That really caught my attention. Because of God’s abiding presence, each day when I awaken, I’m reminded; “This is the day the Lord has made, let us (me) rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 ESV, (my emphasis). Yes… because of my daily focus on our Lord, when I wake up each day, the preeminence of His abiding power is there in me to lead and direct my thoughts. As a result, my actions are intended for His honor, not about myself. Yet sometimes faith is a struggle. In this life we all face storms and trials. There are times in our daily walk ‘in faith’ that we’d rather not have to deal with. But we learn to let go and give them to God instead of depending on our own human attempts at reasoning. One of my favorite promises of God’s faithfulness comes from Numbers 23:19 ESV, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” God uses our storms to bring us to Himself, for His purpose to build our faith. Learning to let go and desire God most certainly is a growing and learning experience, recognizing and trusting the Holy Spirits leading over our reasoning. Father, thank you for waking me up this morning. Teach me to measure my day and live wisely, recognizing the value of your presence within me to lead and instruct. Over the years how your grace has been my sufficiency. How your power is at work in my weakness as your Holy Spirit rests upon me.
